Should I change the date of my baby's 1st birthday?

My baby boy turns 1 on April 7th so we were planning on having his party on the 9th. A lot of our friends & family have said they would be there. However he burned his hands on Sunday & both hands are wrapped(looks like he has mittens on). Well if they aren't healed by then I want to change the date because he won't be able to dig in the cake or open presents. Our doc said there is a possibility they could be healed by then but everyone is different. What would you do? Change the date? Or wait & see? Thanks!
