Question regarding chainmail gauntlets/mittens?

I have many pieces of armour, and recently purchased a pair of chainmail mittens. The thing is, when I wear them with a Gambeson, I have to fold the bottom of the Gambeson's sleeves over and tuck them into the bottom of the chainmail mittens, is there any way I can get these to fit without me having to fold over the bottom of the sleeves, or is this okay, and should I leave this?
